SAN DIEGO (KNX) – Four people were arrested on suspicion of vandalism at the San Diego Zoo Saturday.
The vandalism occurred at the zoo’s Skyfari Aerial Tram.
A spokesperson for the zoo said the four were “rocking back and forth” on the ride, causing the ride's system to shut down and leave some passengers stranded for up to two hours, according to Fox 5.
“We were just hoping that we were going to get down soon,” Hussein Alhamadami, one of the passengers, told the outlet. “It would swing back and forth for a few seconds and then it would stop.”
San Diego fire crews responding to the incident and tweeted that some riders that were rescued needed medical evaluations.
All guests were on the ground after 4:30 p.m. Ride operators were able to restart the ride.
Those arrested were all males and between the ages of 20 and 24 years old, San Diego police said. Their names have not been released.
