Roseville police say suspects had large trash bags of stolen mail in car

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KNX) –Officers arrested two men for stealing mail in a Roseville neighborhood.

Early Wednesday morning, officers responded to a report of two men in a red pickup truck breaking into a cluster mailbox in Pebble Beach Court.
The car wasn’t there; however, the car was stopped by officers on Washington Boulevard.


“While officers approached the vehicle they noticed large trash bags in the bed of the truck. There was a hole in one of the bags which visibly showed mail inside,” the Roseville Police Department said.

Officers search the ca and also found USPS mail keys, bolt cutters, and shaved keys.

Joseph Lawrence and Jonathan Rude, both 36, were arrested and booked into South Placer Jail on a variety of charges, including credit card theft, possession of a controlled substance, and parole violations.

Officers said Rude who admitted he was on parole, while Lawrence was on post release community supervision.
