SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KNX) – A sea lion rescued from a San Diego freeway is recovering at a SeaWorld rescue center.
“He is alert, eating well, active and exhibiting normal sea lion behavior,” SeaWorld tweeted. “Our veterinarians will continue to give him the rehabilitation he needs and will work with @NOAAFisheries to decide on whether he will be returned to his natural environment.”
On the morning of Jan. 7, the sea lion wandered onto state Route 94, causing traffic to stop. Video footage showed a man and a woman guiding the sea lion across the road, according to KABC.
California Highway Patrol and crews with the Seaworld San Diego Rescue team captured the animal.
