ANDERSON, Calif. (KNX) — Fourteen preschool children were sent to the hospital Thursday after a car smashed into their Northern California classroom around 2:30 p.m. in Anderson, Calif., police said, adding that the female driver stayed at the scene.
The crash was reported near the intersection of Balls Ferry Road and Martha Street in Anderson, just west of Interstate 5.

"Upon officers’ arrival on scene, they found a Suzuki SUV had crashed into the building," the Anderson Police Department (APD) said in a statement on Facebook.
"Fourteen of the 19 children [in the room at the time of the crash] were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for varying levels of injures, with the majority of those transported being for precautionary reasons."
No fatalities were reported or are expected as a result of the crash.
After an assessment by APD's drug Recognition Expert, the driver of the vehicle was found to not have been impaired at the time of the crash. Her name has not been released, but police said she is a resident of Anderson.
Police said she was cooperative and was released after providing a statement. At this time the cause of the crash is unknown.
