A stolen motorhome and high-speed chase led to a nine-hour shutdown in the San Francisco Bay area Thursday, after the driver ran a red light and smashed into another vehicle.
The 2013 Fleetwood Motorhome was spotted by San Ramon Police around 7:42 p.m. Wednesday. Officers ran the plates and identified it as one reported stolen in San Francisco, leading to a call for officers to pull the vehicle over on Bollinger Canyon Road.

While the driver, identified as Eric Games, initially cooperated with police and pulled over, they quickly took off as the officers got out of their vehicles and began to approach — marking the start of a high speed chase down Bollinger Canyon Road.
“The suspect encountered several other vehicles and made rapid movements to avoid these while also entering the intersection [on] a red light,” the department said in a statement. “At the same time an uninvolved car attempted to turn left from southbound Alcosta Blvd.”
Fortunately, the driver of the uninvolved car survived the crash and was able to walk away with just minor injuries. The suspect’s vehicle flipped onto its side during the crash, sliding down Bollinger Canyon Road and finally stopping further south near Market Place.
Games was found unresponsive under a sofa in the motorhome, and taken immediately to a nearby hospital, there is no update on his condition.
The 42-year-old San Francisco resident was the only person in the stolen vehicle. Police said he had just been released from custody on Oct. 26 and was in the County’s supervised release program with two pending criminal cases when he allegedly stole the motorhome. The pending cases involve charges of stolen property, felony transportation of a dangerous drug and reckless driving, among others.
Following the theft and chase, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office issued a no-bail warrant for Games, who will be booked into Contra Costa County Jail when he is released from the hospital.
Charges include felony reckless evasion of a police officer, felony vehicle theft, felony hit and run causing injury and felony possession of stolen property.
Walnut Creek Police are handling the investigation.
