IRVING (1080 KRLD) - Allstate Insurance is planning a substantial expansion of its Irving operations, which will create 1,300 jobs.

The company will expand its current facility on the northwest side of DFW International Airport to accommodate the growth. The expansion will cost a total of $11 million, and Governor Greg Abbott says the Texas Enterprise Fund will provide a $2.6 million grant to help cover the cost.

"Allstate is one of the largest and most recognizable insurance providers in the nation, and I am grateful for its continued investment in the Lone Star State," Abbott said in a statement. He went on to say the company is helping to write the state's "economic success story."

The mayor of Irving says Allstate was drawn by the city's central location, infrastructure and skilled talent. Following the expansion, Allstate will become Irving's second largest employer.
