FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A jury in Fort Worth has sentenced an Arlington man to four years in prison for shooting a police officer.

Ex-UTA student Joel McCommon wounded officer Eddie Johnson in April of 2016.

Johnson was part of a team of officers who were trying to arrest McCommon for a murder in Saganaw over a drug deal.

McCommon claimed he thought the police were drug dealers who were trying to get even.

Prosecutors have not made a decision over whether McCommon should be tried for the murder in Saginaw.
