BLUE MOUND (1080 KRLD) - The City of Blue Mound has fired its police chief.

Blue Mound Mayor Alan Hooks recommended that Randy Baker be fired as police chief for what he called a pattern of hostile behavior towards city employees, including flipping off a pair of water department employees who were installing a storage tank near police headquarters.

On Tuesday night, the city council, in a special meeting, voted 4-1 to oust Baker.

Baker denies Mayor Hooks' allegations and alleges that Mayor Hooks wanted to institute a ticket quota at the department.

"When he came and told me that the citation revenues are down, you need to have a meeting with your guys and tell them to write more tickets, I was like, 'No, I can do that. That's illegal,'" says Baker.

"He goes, 'Well, if you don't do it, then I'm going to start docking their pay $400 a month,'" Baker continued. "And I said, 'Well, then you better be prepared for a class action lawsuit to be filed against you by the officers, because you can do that.'"

Hooks says he never made that threat.

"I said, 'If you're not going to write tickets, let me know so I can figure the budget,'" Hooks says.

Baker says he and his attorney are planning legal action.

"The attorney is going to file a whistleblower lawsuit, since I did report the mayor for his corruption and the city secretary for her corruption," Baker says. "I reported her and the mayor to the Texas Rangers, the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office and the Texas comptroller for misappropriation of funds."
