WESLACO (1080 KRLD) - A threat prompted a South Texas Wal-Mart to close last night, just days after a North Texas man allegedly murdered 22 people and wounded two dozen more at an El Paso Walmart
The threat was apparently made on social media by a 13-year-old boy in Weslaco His mother was the one who brought him to the police station. Officer Eric Hernandez says the boy is charged with making a terroristic threat. "Any time you make a post like that on any type of social media platform, there are repercussions. In this case he's facing a third degree felony."
A search of the boy's home did not turn up any weapons.
He says the post was first made on Instagram and was shared to Facebook, and that's when the child's mother was made aware. Hernandez says the boy could get two to ten years in a correctional facility and a two thousand dollar fine.
