FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A car crashed into a fire truck on Interstate 35W south of downtown Fort Worth Monday morning.

The truck was blocking traffic during the investigation of a different crash southbound I-35W near Berry.

The Fort Worth Fire Department says another car hit the side of the truck. The truck had its lights flashing when the car hit.

"It's sometimes amazing to us that people don't see our fire engines, but we have a lot of distracted drivers," says the fire department's Mike Drivdahl. "Unfortunately, this kind of stuff does happen on a fairly regular basis."

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover. No firefighters were injured.

"We'll obviously have an investigation on this and work with Fort Worth PD to see exactly what happened," Drivdahl says.

The initial crash southbound I-35W at Berry was reported around 5:30 a.m. Four people were treated at the scene from that crash, but no one was taken to the hospital.
