Allen Police don't know what caused a man who was driving on a wheel rim to lead them on a chase after they tried to pull him over
“We received a call that a vehicle was northbound on U.S. 75 traveling on the rim, the wheel, no tire was present.” said Sgt. Jon Felty, Allen Police.
Police tried to pull the car over, but the driver, instead, continued to drive until he got to Anna, where he made a U-Turn, Felty said. By this time the Collin County Sheriff’s office and the Texas Department of public safety had joined the chase.
DPS tried to perform a “pit maneuver” where the driver nudges the back of the car to try and force a fishtail and halt the chase, according to Felty.
The driver eventually stopped and was arrested.
Despite the holiday, police say traffic was heavy at the time of the chase. No other vehicles were struck.
