DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The mascot for Dallas Animal Services is being "adopted" today. "Rudy" has been the mascot for DAS since 2012.
Today, the mascot is being retired and transferred to VCA Animal Hospitals. The rescue dog will visit VCA facilities and promote the partnership between VCA and Dallas Animal Services.
The city will hold an adoption ceremony for Rudy at the main animal shelter on Westmoreland Road this morning. During that ceremony, the city will also unveil the two new mascots for Dallas Animal Services.
The shelter will take suggestions for their names before making a final announcement.
