DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Dallas ISD has a special Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for this afternoon.

Board members could appoint a new person to represent District 4. School Board Member Jaime Resendez tells NBC 5 he is resigning.

Resendez has faced questions this week about whether he still lives within the boundaries of District 4. He was not seeking re-election in May and had previously announced plans to run for a seat on the Dallas City Council.

If the board does appoint a replacement today, that person would serve the remainder of Resendez's term.

A new board member would take office after the May 4th school board elections.

Candidates have until February 15th to file for a spot on the ballot.
