Dallas Officer Recovering After Being Struck By DART Train

DALLAS (KRLD) - An off-duty Dallas police officer is recovering after he was struck and dragged 25-50 feet by a DART train.

It happened on Olive Street in downtown at 12:40 p.m. in front of the Bryan Tower office building about two blocks west of Pearl Station.

Witnesses told police the officer was jaywalking and had ear buds in when he was hit. He was dragged some 50 feet but was able to crawl from underneath the train on his own. He emerged with a gash on his head.

The officer’s watch, gun, police equipment and cellphone were thrown all over the tracks after he was hit.

The 14 year veteran of the department was taken to Baylor Hospital and is now listed in stable condition.
