DUNCANVILLE (1080 KRLD) - A legendary coach has been cleared of recruiting violations in Duncanville.

Duncanville High School girls basketball coach Cathy Self-Morgan, was being investigated by the UIL for the possible recruiting violations of Deja Kelly, who had transferred to the school.

The district was ordered by the UIL to investigate the matter. In a report filed today, the district found, "insufficient evidence to conclude Self-Morgan engaged in prohibited recruiting."

“We complied with the UIL directive to look into this matter and did so within the specified timeline,” said Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith. “Outside legal counsel conducted the investigation and we provided them full access to any documents or people necessary to perform a thorough investigation. We look forward to getting feedback from the UIL.”

When the allegations came to light, Self-Morgan, who had planned to retire, decided to resign.

She had won eight state titles, more than 1,100 games in her 40-plus year career, and five state championships since taking over as coach at Duncanville in 2000.
