COLLIN COUNTY (KRLD) - A father and stepson died after crashing into a tree in Collin County.
The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 121 north of Anna.
Witnesses say the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro tried to pass another car and apparently lost control. The Camaro went off the roadway and slammed into the tree.
Both the driver and his passenger died at the scene. DPS identified them as 34-year-old Chris Perkins and his 9-year-old stepson, Kylan Krick.
Kylan was a second grader at Whitewright Elementary School.
Perkins wife contacted KRLD and in a statement says, "The two of them were my world. I will miss them tremendously. I was married to my best friend and Chris loved Kylan like his own son," she says.
Troopers are still investigating the crash
