DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The FBI will be helping Dallas police investigate the murder of a transgender woman whose body was pulled from White Rock Lake.

Dallas police chief Renee Hall isn't saying how 26-year-old Shanell Lindsey died. Her body was pulled from the lake Saturday afternoon.

Advocates say people in the transgender community are on edge because of the latest killing.

Last month, police asked the public for information on the attacks on three other transgender women, two of which were killed.

The latest involved Muhlaysia Booker, whose body was found face down in a Dallas street over two weeks ago.

Booker died from "homicidal violence," Major Vincent Weddington with Dallas police said. He did not elaborate on her death.

Booker's murder came one month after she was attacked at a Dallas apartment complex. The whole thing was caught on video and went viral. Weddington says this is the third case since late last year with some similarities.

Police don't know if the attacks are connected but are asking for the public to help them close the cases.
