WYLIE (1080 KRLD) - A lightning strike may have started a house fire in Wylie Thursday morning.
As storms moved through the Metroplex, hail the size of a half dollar was reported along with wind gusts of up to 60 miles an hour.
The Wylie Fire Department was called to a house on Fleming Street around 5 a.m. for reports of smoke and fire in the attic.
Crews controlled the fire, and everyone inside escaped. No one was hurt. The department says lightning may have started the fire.
In Roanoke, hail the size of a half dollar was reported. In Haslet, one inch hail, about the size of a quarter, was reported.
In Hunt County, strong winds knocked down power lines in two areas. Lines were knocked down in Celeste, north of Greenville. About six miles away in the town of Merit, power lines were blown down onto a car.
