Daniel Ray Owens was arrested last week in Tulsa following a federal grand jury seven count indictment of mailing threats across the country, including a threatening letter to First Baptist Dallas threatening to assassinate pastor Robert Jeffress. The Dallas Morning News reports that federal agents say Owens mailed an envelope containing white powder to the church in July, forcing a quarantine of the employee that opened the letter. The powder was found to be non toxic. According to court documents Owens letter stated in part, "I will assassinate your pastor in the name of Allah, I will burn down Christian churches ... this is a threat." The investigation traced at least 45 similar letters to Owens threatening LGBTQ groups, police departments and apartment buildings, some threatening genocide.
