"We are so incredibly grateful to them for answering the call," says Keri Kaiser,  Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Children's Health.  "Two weeks later we now have a full 7-Eleven that has all the essentials."

The concept was simple.  There's a huge need for healthcare workers coming off long shifts to still be able to grocery shop.  Sometimes they have trouble making it to the store for basic necessities.  And even if they can, it can be a hassle.

"To help keep our healthcare workers...healthy and safe, these are vital, important things for them," says Kaiser.

Some of the most popular items are milk, eggs, bread, peanut butter, jelly, and cleaning supplies like hand sanitizer.

The store also serves families of Children's Health patients dealing with difficult illnesses and injuries.

"You forget that when you've been in the hospital that long, anything that gives them a little slice of normal, and that's represented by an easy to make peanut butter and jelly sandwich, that is just a bonus on top of everything," Kaiser said.
