DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The new mortgage and rent assistance program in Dallas is very popular. So much that the city of Dallas website crashed yesterday just a few minutes after going online.
Under the new program, Dallas renters and homeowners who meet certain income limits, can apply for up to three months in assistance.
The payments of up to $1,500 go directly to the landlords or the banks holding mortgages.
By 10:00 a.m. yesterday, jsut one hour after the process started, the website has received nearly 1,600 applications, according to reports.
