Early this morning, someone in a silver Mercedes-Benz opened fire at a vehicle on northbound 360 between Park Row and Division Street.

"A gunshot did hit the vehicle in the back," says Steven Bartolotta, a spokesman for the Arlington Police Department. "It did not hit anything individuals inside the vehicle, and there were no injuries reported."

It's unknown what led to the shooting.

"We don't know if there was a collision involved or if there was anything beforehand that might have happened that precipitated this event," Bartolotta says.

Regardless of what may have happened, Bartolotta says it's no excuse.

"There's nothing that happens on the road that should rise to an incident like this or anything remotely close to this," says Bartolotta.

The shooter is still on the loose, and police are trying to find him.

"Detectives and investigators will go through all the cameras they can find north and southbound (on 360)," Bartolotta says, "and if there are any witnesses, we would ask them to come forward as well."
