NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (1080 KRLD) - A North Richland Hills is lucky to be alive after a car plows into her apartment.
At around 8:00 Wednesday morning, police were called to the Grayson Ridge Apartments on Loop 820.
When officers arrived, they found a car that had gone straight into a ground-floor unit.
"The driver was arrested for DUI; and luckily, there were no injuries in the crash," says Carissa Katekaru, a spokeswoman for the North Richland Hills PD.
The woman was inside her unit, in another room, at the time of the crash.
"She actually thought the crash was outside, and she came out to see a car in her living room," says Katekaru.
That woman is currently working with apartment management to relocate to another unit.
The building, meanwhile, has been deemed structurally sound, so no one else is displaced.
"We did have to call out the NEFDA (North East Fire Department Association) technical rescue team, because there was some structural concern with the building," says Katekaru. "And they were able to come out and make that building structurally sound, so that the additional residents could go back into their apartments."
