Plano-based Cinemark is finalizing plans to reopen at least some of its theaters that were shut down more than eleven weeks ago under government orders stemming from Coronavirus fears.

In releasing first quarter results yesterday, CEO Mark Zoradi said the closings devastated their bottom line and led to layoffs for more than 17,000 hourly workers.

Now, Zoradi says they'll begin a four-step process by reopening five theaters in Dallas-Fort Worth beginning June 19th.

They'll start by selling $5 tickets to some classic movies.
