Cockfighting Gathering Broken Up In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Police in Fort Worth break up a large cockfighting gathering.

Police were called to a home on Burton Ave. in southeast Fort Worth at around 8:30 Sun. night.

"There was a large crowd that was gathered for a rooster fight," says Fort Worth Police Ofc. Jimmy Pollozani. "Officers located numerous cages with roosters and hens inside of them."

Animal control was called to the scene.

"50 roosters were seized, (and) eight were deceased," says Ofc. Pollozani. "Two homeowners were arrested, three individuals were issued citations, and one of them was arrested for public intoxication."

The seized roosters are currently in the care of the Fort Worth Animal Shelter and will soon be placed with a humane organization.
