DALLAS (KRLD) - A Dallas County deputy constable remains on administrative leave after her arrest early Sunday.

According to arrest records, Precinct 5 Deputy Constable Denisse Escobedo, 31, was off-duty and working security at a private party in Pleasant Grove.  Authorities said Escobedo enlisted her cousin, Ramiro Vielma III, to help at the event.  Escobedo and Vielma allegedly were both wearing shirts that read "POLICE" on the front.  Vielma is not a member of law enforcement.

During the event, Escobedo reportedly stopped and confronted several men in a pickup at the front gate.  The driver of the truck told police Escobedo asked for his license, and later ordered the confiscation of a case of beer in the truck.

The driver, Marco Faz, told police he asked to see Escobedo's badge, but she allegedly refused and threatened to write him a ticket.

Faz said he then drove a short distance, turned his pickup around and prepared to leave the area.  He said Escobedo again ordered him to stop, but he kept rolling forward, and claimed Escobedo and an unidentified man started banging on the vehicle with their flashlights.  Faz said shots were then fired at the truck, injuring him and two other men.

After talking to witnesses, Dallas Police were unable to determine who fired the shots.  Escobedo told investigators she heard the gunshots while walking away after telling Faz to leave.

Escobedo was arrested on charges including Official Oppression, Failure to Report a Felony and Impersonating a Public Servant.  All are misdemeanor charges.  Vielma was also charged with Impersonating a Public Servant.

In a statement, Dallas County Precinct 5 Constable Michael Orozco said Escobedo was placed on administrative leave during the internal and criminal investigations.  Orozco said Escobedo's status as a deputy constable will be determined after the investigations are complete.
