Dallas is dismissing curfew violation citations written for protesters who stayed out too late on the nights of May 31st and June 1st.

The Dallas Police Department stresses this does not apply to charges relating to criminal behavior like looting, theft, assaults and destruction of property.

Police Chief Renee Hall says she hopes "dismissing the curfew charges will be a signal to the community" and that the decision "will be viewed as restorative action."
