Violent crime is up in Dallas...but what's behind it?
Dallas city council members and outgoing Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall discussed the high rate of violent crime and funding necessary to fight it Monday.
Dallas Police have reported 21 murders in the month of August, and 12 so far in September.
Deputy Chief Reuben Ramirez says unlike in years past where gang violence was the main culprit, officials they are finding basic conflicts are leading people to reach for their guns.
He says these types of cases have a high clearance rate.
