Dallas ISD superintendent Michael Hinojosa remains optimistic even though enrollment is down sharply from projections.
At the end of the first week of online-only classes, the student population was 12% lower than expected.
If that does not improve, it could mean the loss of millions of dollars in state funding.
But Hinojosa tells a local area newspaper he believes students will return to school, especially once on-campus learning returns by October 5th.
