DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dallas Area Rapid Transit is starting a series of public meetings about a planned rail line from Plano to DFW Airport. DART has broken ground on the Silver Line and plans to start service in 2022.
Tuesday, DART will make a presentation to the Dallas City Council's transportation committee. Some people who live along the proposed line say the addition of railroad tracks would cut off access to neighborhoods and businesses.
"If they have to build this, we just want safety to be a number one priority," says one man who lives near the line.
They say DART should build the Silver Line, previously called the "Cotton Belt Line", as a subway.
"That address safety, that addresses noise, that address a whole host of problems," one woman said.
Meetings start Tuesday evening. People will be able to ask about the type of trains, station art, construction and the schedule:
