DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A man serving a long stretch for a robbery in Dallas is going to be executed tonight - for murdering a prison guard. Travis Runnels was doing 70 years for the Dallas robbery and was assigned to an Amarillo prison.
In 2003, he slit the throat of a guard in a fit of anger over a prison job assignment.
A prosecutor described the attack-from-behind as "cowardly."
