AT&T customers whose information was exposed in two 2024 data breaches are beginning to receive payments from a $177 million class-action settlement, with some eligible for up to $7,500 if they documented financial losses.

A federal judge in the Northern District of Texas granted final approval to the settlement on October 2. The Dallas-based company settled without admitting wrongdoing. The deal covers two separate incidents. The first, disclosed in March 2024, involved personal data including Social Security numbers for roughly 73 million current and former customers. The second, disclosed in July 2024, involved call and text records downloaded from a third-party cloud platform.

Customers who filed valid claims by the December 18, 2025, deadline and provided documentation of out-of-pocket losses tied to the breaches can receive up to $5,000 for the March incident and up to $2,500 for the July incident. Those without documentation are expected to receive far smaller tiered payments, estimated between $6.50 and $40 depending on the type of data exposed, according to court documents. Nearly 5 million claims were submitted.

AT&T has until November 2 to appeal the approval. If no appeal is filed, the settlement is expected to take effect around mid-November, with payments distributed electronically or by check within 60 days. That timeline would put most payments arriving by early 2027. The company has said it settled to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.
