A former Plano cop who was helping run a drug ring behind the backs of fellow cops is taking a plea deal.
Court records show Frank Eric Dockery, 46, has pleaded guilty to three counts of a federal indictment.
Court papers say he was part of a gang of 10 oxycodone peddlers that operated for more than four years in North Texas.
Things unraveled in October of 2018 when 29-year-old Ryan Jason Pearson of Fairview took drugs that he had bought from the gang and died.
Court papers say Pearson thought he was taking oxycodone. Instead he took the far more deadly drug fentanyl. He was found dead in his home.
Under terms of the tentative deal, Dockery admits he was an accessory to the crime and failed to report the illegal activity, that he helped sell the drugs and used his gun to protect the gang members.
No sentencing date has been set.
