DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- An elderly Johnson County man has been arrested on suspicion of being a serial rapist in Dallas cases dating back to the 1980s.

Now 74, David Hawkins was arrested at his home in Keene and booked into Lew Sterrett yesterday on one count of aggravated sexual assault stemming from a 1985 case.

The victim asked to have her case re-opened, hoping modern DNA technologies might lead to her rapist.

In a written statement, Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot says "...the case was solved through the use of forensic genetic geneology analysis." He calls this the first case "...of its kind to be solved in this manner in Dallas County."

Investigators expect more charges to be filed against Hawkins soon.
