FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Because of coronavirus worries, Fort Worth police will stop jailing people for minor offenses if they can give a ticket instead.

For Woth Police Commanders say this is to minimize chances officers might get infected during an arrest.

The moratorium on arrests pertains only to Class "C" misdemeanors which under state law is the least serious level of crime.

The Tarrant County Jail has already been screening new inmates for symptoms.
