FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth school trustees are not ready to decide the fate of a teacher whose tweets on immigration ignited a controversy earlier this year.
Carter-Riverside High School teacher Georgia Clark tweeted that many students in the Fort Worth district are in the country illegally and that the school had been "taken over by illegal students from Mexico."
That was enough for the school board to sack Clark but she appealed. That forced an investigation by an independent examiner who recommends that Clark be re-instated.
Meeting in secret last night, the school board talked for two hours, emerging only to say they need more time to make a decision.
As reported by NBC-5, about 63% of Fort Worth students are Hispanic.
