
Bankrate analyst Adrian Garcia says, "16% of the people in our survey said they were willing to skip or boycott gift-giving altogether to save money. If you average that out, that's about 38 million Americans." He says another 24% said they are willing to regift.
19% say they would buy used or secondhand items to save money.
He also says one-third of those who travel during the holidays have felt pressure to overspend on expenses such as airline tickets, gas, and lodging.
