DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- The iconic Texas Ranger statue that has greeted visitors to Dallas Love Field for nearly 60 years has been removed.
The statue is in the likeness of Ranger Captain Jay Banks who in 1949 was transferred to Rangers Company "B" in North Texas.
During the the 50s, during the fight to integrate schools in Mansfield, Banks was assigned to keep the peace.
A recent book portrays Banks as a racist and when Dallas city leaders learned of this, they ordered the statue removed.
The city says the statue will remain in storage until it decides what to do with it.
