SAN ANTONIO (1080 KRLD) - Their nearly month-long coronavirus quarantine is technically over but Irving newlyweds Rachel and Tyler Torres still cannot leave Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Even though federal health officials say they're free to go, the city of San Antonio and the state of Texas have cracked down, saying they will be detained and re-quarantined if they set foot off the base.
The couple tell NBC-5 they were first quarantined aboard their honeymoon cruise ship before being transferred to Lackland. But with that quarantine now expired, they thought they would arrive home yesterday.
But then it turned out a woman who was mistakenly released into San Antonio was, in fact, infected.
So, even though their own quarantine has concluded - there they sit in isolation for who knows how long.
