Financially troubled J.C. Penney has opted to withdraw from redevelopment plans at Collin Creek Mall in its hometown of Plano.
Dallas developer Centurion American is creating a billion-dollar mixed use development and was including a new Penny's store.
Centurion now says the project will move forward without Penney's involvement.
In May, J.C. Penney filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is in the midst of closing down 160 stores.
