DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas police have arrested a man in connection with the death of Muhlaysia Booker, a transgender woman who was found slain in a Dallas street, over a month after a cellphone video showed her being brutally beaten in a separate case police said they investigated as a hate crime.

Police have charged Kendrell Lyles for the murder of Booker and two others. The two other victims were killed in a drug deal gone wrong.

Officials say he's a person of interest in the murder of another transgender woman, Chynal Lindsey, whose body was found in White Rock Lake earlier this month.

The FBI has been helping Dallas police investigate the murders, believing the cases might be related.

Last month, police asked the public for information on the attacks on three other transgender women, two of which were killed.

Booker died from "homicidal violence," Major Vincent Weddington with Dallas police said. He did not elaborate on her death.

Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall said during a news conference that police were investigating Lindsey's death as a homicide and that there were obvious signs of homicidal violence.
