FORT WORTH (KRLD) - Jurors in Fort Worth have sentenced a convicted killer to life in prison without parole.
26-year-old Burnches Mitchell was found guilty of capital murder in the January 2017 shooting death of a man in a White Settlement convenience store.
Prosecutors say he killed 27-year old Krystophir Scott at the Quick Sak on Cherry lane in White Settlement.
Mitchell and another suspect held-up the store and Scott was killed when he attempted to intervene.
Prosecutors argued Mitchell poses a danger even behind the prison walls, and that the death penalty is the only just sentence. Jurors could have sent him to death row but agreed on a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
The other suspect in the incident, coincidentally, was later killed by a store clerk during another robbery attempt in Arlington.
