— Mavs Care (@MavsCare) September 25, 2019Three Council Members sent a letter to the City Manager in April, praising Nowitzki for his charity work and points out that he is the only player in NBA history to play 21 seasons with the same franchise.
Former Mav Jason Terry was on hand before the vote and told the council it would be a great way to honor Dirk.
"As great of a basketball player that Dirk is and was, he's that much more as a human being. He serves as a great role model to the city's youth," Terry says.
The span of Olive Street from Field Street to Victory Street will be the section where the name change will occur.
