While loud and sometimes violent demonstrations were going on in Minneapolis, a quiet and peaceful gathering was held outside Dallas police headquarters to show solidarity with George Floyd who died in Minneapolis police custody this week.
Speaking to NBC 5, community organizer Shenita Cleveland says she and others are calling for the arrest of the Minneapolis policeman seen in a viral video pinning Floyd down with a knee on his neck. When Floyd passed out, paramedics were called and they say he showed no signs of life by the time they arrived.
"We want to stand in solidarity that we have to call it what it is and it's murder and that we're calling for the arrest of the officer that committed the crime against this innocent black man," said Cleveland.
More than a dozen faith leaders met to lead in prayer last night at Dallas West Church of Christ, home congregation to Botham Jean, the Dallas Black man shot and killed by an off-duty Dallas officer in 2018.
Four Minneapolis officers have been fired, but as of this morning, none have been charged with a crime.
