Frisco will break ground April 27 on Grand Park, a 1,011-acre urban oasis designed to become one of North Texas’s premier destinations for recreation, wellness and community connection.

The public ceremony runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Big Bluestem Trailhead, 5001 Cotton Gin Road. Attendees can expect music, refreshments and shuttle service from the Frisco Public Library and Discovery Center parking lot. Phase one, known as Civic Park, covers more than 68 acres at a cost of $43.4 million, with design already complete and construction targeted for spring 2027.

The full park stretches from the Dallas North Tollway west to Lake Lewisville and FM 423. When finished, it will feature 20.7 miles of trails, 1,051 parking spaces, 16 acres of ponds, 100 acres of programmed space and 189 acres of natural area. Phase one includes an amphitheater and lawn, splash pad, event orchard, wetland boardwalk, three-acre pond with kayak launch, shade pavilion, play sculpture, picnic areas, restrooms, food-truck space and additional trails.

Future phases will add 39 acres of adventure play space, a 78-acre botanic garden and nature area, a 46-acre sports park and a 37-acre nature center.

City officials describe the project as a long-planned world-class destination that invites all ages and abilities to play, explore and connect after years of visioning and master-plan work.
