Person Diagnosed With Coronavirus In Isolation In San Antonio

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - One person is in isolation with the coronavirus in San Antonio.

Health officials say that person had been evacuated from China to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.  

The patient in stable condition at a nearby hospital.  The coronavirus infection was confirmed through laboratory testing on Wednesday night.

The CDC says the evacuees from China are still within the "incubation period," so other cases are still possible.

"Every precaution has been executed according to plan to isolate the patient from the public" said a representative from the CDC. "The risk to San Antonio remains low."

This is the 15th confirmed U.S. case of coronavirus. 

"We have prepared for this eventuality for a long time" said Dr. John Hellerstedt, Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services. "The system is working exactly as planned. The steps that have been taken are exactly those needed to protect San Antonio, Texas and the rest of the nation."
