DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Reverchon Park in the Turtle Creek are near downtown Dallas is due for a major make-over because of last night's Dallas City Council vote.
A private consortium fronted by Mavericks' General Manager Donnie Nelson got the city council to agree to privatize Reverchon which sits along the Dallas North Tollway.
Nelson's group plans to rehab to the century-old baseball field and to build a modern stadium which might attract a minor league team.
North Dallas High School used to play its home games at Reverchon until it became unsafe. They now play in West Dallas but plan to return to Reverchon, closer to their campus, once the new ballpark is open.
The money for all the plans comes from private investors and the city will enjoy revenues generated by leasing the facility.
It will still be owned by the city but will be managed by the private group, much the same as the Dallas Zoo.
