AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - On Wednesday Texas Governor Greg Abbott's comment on social media about making his Alcohol-To-Go policy permanent motivated one lawmaker to call for more.
State Representative Eddie Rodriguez of Austin authored the 'Beer-To-Go' bill signed into law by Governor Abbott back in 2019.
Rodriguez wants to see the Governor permanently ease other restrictions as well. "We can look at the liquor sales-to-go hopefully in the same conversation as paid sick leave and Texas workforce commission requirements and internet access around the state of Texas, things like that. I think all of it's very important."
Rodriguez was responding to the Governor's tweet that read "Alcohol-to-go sales can continue after May 1. From what I hear from Texans, we may just let this keep on going forever."
Abbott also Retweeted a TV news piece about the original order designed to increase restaurant sales by allowing restaurants to deliver alcoholic beverages with food purchases.
