DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Flight attendants for American and Southwest have been told they can wear masks on the jobLori Bassani is president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants which represents Fort Worth based American airlines 28 thousand flight attendants. Her union has been pushing for this ever since American stopped flying to mainland China. But supplies are tight "and they're going to the health workers, so our flight attendants have been asked to provide their own if they don't have them onboard, and they have to be in a neutral color."She says their flight attendants are pretty resourceful. They're also wearing latex gloves and using hand wipes and sanitizer when it's available. She says the masks are another barrier of protection...but "I know. We've heard the stories that the masks aren't necessarily a protection against Covid-19. I'll tell you, when you see on the news all the healthcare workers are wearing them. If that's going to make us feel more comfortable, I'm very pleased."
