Stuck for a month in a Frisco hospital bed, a Lake Cities firefighter got quite a shock outside his fifth-floor window.

Imagine Fire Captain Troy Hammons' surprise when he glanced through the window from the fifth floor and saw a delegation of his pals looking back at him and waving.

Seems the boys had used one of the fire apparatus and its extension ladder to go aloft for a little eye-to-eye time with Hammons who's been cooped up for a month recovering from a terrible infection that caused his leg to be amputated.

His boss Fire Chief Michael Ross worked with Hammons wife to work out the surprise.

The captain had told his buddies he was hankering for some Whataburger.

Their initial plan was to use the ladder to deliver the chow through the window until they were told the windows don't open.

So Mrs. Hammons delivered the food when she went up to visit, but the fellas still used the ladder to pay a visit because normal visitation has been cut to nothing because of the Coronavirus.

Of course, the visit lifted Hammons spirits but so did his favorite Whataburger breakfast, the biscuits and gravy.
